Family Meetings:

Hey ladies! I am sorry for my delay in posting to the website. I will admit life has been crazy and I am hoping to get back to a strict posting schedule with quality content soon. Many of you asked me for my Family Meeting Template, so here it is!

My husband and I started having family meetings! We have only done one so far, due to going back home to see family a lot and traveling, but when things go back to normal…we plan to start them right back up. I used a set slide on canva and added my own little touch and photos to make it fit for us. I deleted a lot of my personal points, but feel free to edit it to fit your needs.

To Start~

I hooked up my iPad screen share function to the TV, and we started the meeting with prayer. Because my husband is the leader of our home, I let him pray first! We also had a focus Scripture of the week as well! While making sure to have these meetings has been tough for my husband and I at the moment, it will be so beneficial when he starts law school! We will be on a consistent schedule then and will need to schedule time for eachother during the week. I like these meetings because it helps me know what to expect for the week, versus just waiting for us to get some time together. I can know what day and time we plan to do something. We ended the meeting with prayer as well.

Things to add to make it special~

While some may find an issue with this, we have also thought about adding Communion to this meeting. We may do it every two weeks or once a month. If we decide to add this to our meetings, my husband will be the one to administer it to me and pray over the bread and “wine”. It is still sacred, but it is so beautiful when your husband administers it to the family. Many people only believe it can be done in a church setting, and that is fine. However, I have prayed about it and studied it and feel it’s wonderful to do at home too.

Next, I made sure to have my planner on hand as well. I wrote down any doctor’s appointments coming up, dates, plans, events, etc.

We talked about all of the following:

  • School

  • Moving

  • Chores

  • Budget

  • Dates

  • Doctor’s Appointments

  • Book to read

  • Scripture

  • Planning

  • Relationship Discussion

The last one was the best because you get to see ways you can improve in your relationship. I asked my husband ways I could make him feel loved more this week, and things I could do to make him feel special. He asked the same of me. It was as simple as sending a text that says, “I love you” during the day, and making sure to greet him at the door. After we prayed and finished the meeting, my husband went on and on about how much he loved it and wanted to keep doing it.

The Link to My Slide

I made a copy of the slide I made for yall to use! You can change out the photos, font, or edit it however you’d like to fit your needs. Sometimes canva can be weird and not let you use the links shared, so if you have issues getting it to work let me know!

This is something that will have to be made a habit. It can take a while to get used to adding something new into your busy schedule. I pray you ladies can use this template or make you own that fits your needs. I love aesthetics, and having something aesthetic to look at on TV helped keep me focused and my husband loved it as well.
